Spring finally decided to show its face. Actually, here in the Chicago area, we went from winter right into summer! I feel like this happens every year and slowly our spring and fall seasons are fading out. Since the weather has been nicer, I’ve been able to spend more time outdoors. My backyard is truly my sanctuary. I’m always drawn to it whether it’s morning coffee or a moment of silence to enjoy the birds chirping. Realizing that I devote a great deal of time to this space, I’m encouraged to transform it into something more.
We have many projects going on to transform our backyard into a garden oasis. I’ve been recording the process in hopes that maybe some of you might be inspired as well. I recently planted a double knock-out rose tree! I was so excited to see them at the garden center this year. I had attempted to put one in my yard a couple of years back but the bunnies chewed the trunk over winter and killed it. We have a TON of bunnies in the area and so much of what I’m doing this year will be incorporating rabbit-proof solutions. In this episode, I planted the rose tree in a container. It will sit nicely on my deck and in the winter I can store it aware from desperate critters.
