How are you guys doing at home?
I’m so over staying at home but I know the importance of keeping my family safe. I’ll admit, I’ve got caught up in slumming at home. I was looking for new ways to get my kids outside that wasn’t part of our typical day. During my planning session for Girl Scouts, I came across the Letterboxing Brownie badge. It’s not the first time I’ve heard of the badge but, given our current situation, I thought it would be a blast to have the girls in my troop work on it with their families! How fun, right?
Letterboxing background
If you’re wondering what letterboxing is, it combines artistry and the love of the outdoors with adventure and treasure hunting! You look up clues, follow the clues to find the boxes, and stamp your journal to record your adventures! Here is some more information: https://www.atlasquest.com/about/index.php
Letterboxing on your next adventure
Letterboxing is a global hobby! What I loved about letterboxing is that it gave us an opportunity to explore a new place in our community. We found a hidden gem just by venturing out! I can totally see us letterboxing on our next adventure whether it’s camping or traveling. I even looked up letterboxes near Disney World and there is one at Fort Wilderness!!! Next time you go out, see if there is a letterbox near by.
Know before you go
Before I planned out the badge kits and pitched this to my troop, I knew we had to experience it for ourselves. So we went online to find a site that has clues and found one near our area.
